Tiny Treasures

Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program, a ministry of Hope Lutheran Church, offers a program providing children with a variety of learning experiences in a safe and secure environment. In an atmosphere of caring Christian education, the child will be free to explore his/her environment and receive guidance in participating in activities which will allow the child to experience success. All this will be done, keeping in mind age-level appropriate learning, as activities and curriculum are carried out. Our mission at Tiny Treasures is to nurture and facilitate the development of the whole child through appropriate cognitive, social, physical and spiritual experiences.

  • OUR LEARNING PHILOSOPHY

The early childhood years are exciting and powerful years for building a foundation for your child. At Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program, we minister to the whole child: socially, emotionally, creatively, spiritually, mentally and physically. We provide effective learning experiences in Spiritual/Social Living, Communication Arts, Expressive Arts, Wellness and Discovery about the World. The experiences are fun and interesting for the children in a positive Christian climate. Our program is set up for age appropriateness. There are certain predictable sequences of growth and changes that take place in a child’s life. We recognize these stages and have prepared the learning environment accordingly. Our program is also set up on individual appropriateness. Each child is a unique creation of God and with this in mind, the curriculum and interaction of adults must be responsive to individual differences. The knowledge of how children learn is important to any program. Children’s play is a vehicle for learning. Play enables children to progress along the developmental sequence. The child’s sensory experiences and self-initiated activities are an important part of their development. Hope offers a distinctly Christian program. Daily we share Christ with the children, care for them as one of God’s children and prepare them to live in God’s world. Even the youngest children have a natural appetite for learning and children do learn Christian values and moral standards at a very early age. Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program offers excellence in education within a warm, loving, Christian environment.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Basic objectives have been developed to promote the development of each child. The objectives are based on what is developmentally appropriate for the children. Using the objectives as a framework, the teachers develop the curriculum taking into consideration the needs of each child. Each teacher is responsible for writing and implementing lesson plans to guide their daily activities. These plans include a balance of quiet/active activities, child-initiated/teacher-directed activities and variety of learning areas. Weekly lesson plans are posted in each classroom.

    LANGUAGE PHILOSOPHY

At Tiny Treasures Early Childhood Program, we believe that language is how the children communicate, which is essential for learning. It is the foundation for listening, speaking, reading and writing. Your child will be immersed in a print-rich classroom which includes such things as: flannel boards, labels, dictated stories, signs, tape stories, puppets, calendar and a book area. Through these developmentally appropriate experiences, your child will be aware of the meaningful use of language and develop a long predictable sequences for speaking, reading and writing. We will involve the children in many interactions which include circle time, story time and learning centers enhancing the child’s emotional security and self-confidence. This will enable each child to build upon his/her natural tendency and an appreciation for the written and spoken language.

    CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENTS

Each classroom is divided into learning centers or interest areas. The teachers set up the areas and children are free to explore each center. These centers provide self-directed learning opportunities where each child can explore their own special interests at their own pace.

    CURRICULUM

    Mother’s Day Out

It is our philosophy that children at this age develop most of their cognitive, social, physical, and spiritual needs through play and interactive activities. The children will be in an environment that allows them to play, socialize with peers, and develop large and fine motor skills. They will be involved in creative art, music and movement, Spanish (Wednesday classes only) and drama. They will have developmentally appropriate Christian stories and songs. Through a loving, nurturing and playful environment, our young ones will learn to experience the world outside of home safely. The Mother’s Day Out program is for children 18 months of age to 2 years old. The 18 month class operates on Tuesday and Thursday. Our 2 year old classes have the option of coming Tuesday and Thursday OR Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

    Preschool

Our 3 and 4 year old children will develop their cognitive, social, physical and spiritual need through planned activities that incorporate direct teacher instruction, cooperative play, multi-sensory experiences and creative and dramatic expression. Our teachers will be planning instructions and play/creative experiences based on a developmentally appropriate continuum of skills. These skills will fall under the general areas of Spiritual/Social Living, Communication Arts, Wellness, Discovery about the World (integrating math, science, and social studies). Our program is a developmental program which focuses on experience and practice of the various skill area, not complete mastery. We value the loving and nurturing environment that the children at this age level require. This environment will enrich and encourage your child’s experiences in preparation for Kindergarten and the future. The Preschool program is offered to children who are 3 and 4 years old by September 1st. Parents of our three year olds have the option of registering their children for Tuesday and Thursday only OR Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Our 4 year olds must register for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to ensure a quality preschool experience and better prepare them for Kindergarten.

    FEES

The fees for Mother’s Day Out and Preschool are a non-refundable $50.00 registration fee and $135.00 per month per child for 2 days a week OR $195.00 per month per child for 3 days a week. We also require two $25.00 material fees. One to be paid in September and one in February. Fees are due the first Tuesday of each month.
