Forgiven Inspired Spirit-driven Hope

F.I.S.H. is a program that’s all about fun and you! From wild dinner discussions to odyssey sectionals that allow you to explore new interests – F.I.S.H. creates an environment where you can hook into new friendships, new hobbies and new ways to see yourself and those around you. F.I.S.H. meets every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. From a parenting perspective, F.I.S.H. is a life-application of the faith lessons you’ve been teaching your child all along. In addition to exploring new interest your child will be developing positive relationships and working on assets that prepare them for life. What Happens in a Fishbowl? -It starts out at the Bait Shop where families work together in the kitchen to create a luring meal for the crowd! Parents and youth sign up in advance to volunteer time before the event to get things ready! -Next we work with Rod n’ Reel – games that help us get to know one another and develop the assets that “reel us in” as disciples of Christ. -Finally it’s time for the Odyssey: “an extended adventurous wandering” – the dictionary has it just right! In Odysseys you have the adventure of trying something new or exploring your interests at a deeper level. You also connect with some really awesome adults and friends! Odysseys Each Odyssey is four to five weeks in length, giving you the opportunity to learn more about interest areas and perhaps give something new a try! You are asked to select one Odyssey and complete it rather than swimming off to different ones each week. If a particular Odyssey is filled we may repeat it at a later date. The Details Participants are asked to bring $5 each week to offset the cost of our meals and supplies. Please bring neighbors and friends! Their first visit if free! Parents are asked to volunteer with our program because it gives you a chance to serve with your child, it helps us immensely and because it’s reely fun! Volunteers can serve as cooks, table hosts and Odyssey mentors – just talk to Robin to find out more! For more information on F.I.S.H. please click here or contact Robin Groeper.

Confirmation

Confirmation: Our Baptism Covenant in Action The purpose of our program is to provide instruction and experiences for our children to enable them to take on the responsibility of their faith development, as begun in the promises made at their baptisms. We want our children to grow in an understanding of their relationship with Christ, and to begin to see their place in the body of Christ, the Church. At the end of their confirmation journey, students will be able to make a public personal confession of their faith and take personal ownership in declaring, through the power of the Holy Spirit, their trust and allegiance to Jesus Christ. Confirmation classes meet during the Sunday School hour (9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.) every Sunday during the school year. Confirmation Sunday is celebrated in conjunction with Pentecost Sunday every year. Our program is an intensive 3-year program that typically begins in 6th grade. Level 1 Confirmation is a more thorough study of the Old Testament. Level 2 Confirmation is a more thorough study of the New Testament and Level 3 is a study of the Catechism and Lutheran Confessions. For more information about our Confirmation program, please feel free to contact Pastor Jon.

Senior High Youth

Every student should be able to feed themselves spiritually. They should understand the importance of worship (where God promises to be), the embrace of God's love through Scripture, and the accountability of the promises made at baptism and confirmation. Every student should develop enough spiritual confidence to enable them to stand for their convictions in the face of opposition. Every student should be committed to and involved in the work of God in the world. They should demonstrate this in life, being an active part of the community beyond the walls of Hope Lutheran Church. Every student should have God honoring relationships with their families and friends, and one another.

Hope offers a wide variety of activities / ministries for our youth.
